Royal Institution Mathematics Masterclasses Notices for Participants, 2016
All sessions run from 10:30a.m. to 3:00p.m. in the Dean Street building housing the Schools of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering in Bangor.
On January 9th registration will take place in the foyer of this building from 10:15. Please report absence due to illness, other activities, etc., in advance if possible: preferably by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone to 01248 388023 (Mon.-Fri.).
A folder with A4 pad will be provided, but participants are asked to bring a selection of pens or pencils. A calculator will be useful for some of the sessions.
On the first Saturday the class is split into two groups, one Welsh-speaking and the other English-speaking, with one group following Powersheets and the other Polyhedra in the morning, and the other way round in the afternoon. The same procedure will be adopted on February 6th and partly on February 27th. On the other two Saturdays all the presentations are in English.
Participants bring their own lunch, taken between 12:30 and 13:00, and light refreshments are provided at 11:30 and 14:00. Participants are not allowed to leave the building during the breaks without written permission from their parents.
Royal Institution Certificates are given out after the final session on March 5th at 15:00 in the Main Lecture Theatre, Dean Street, Bangor.
Family and friends are invited to attend the presentation on March 5th. and also to attend a Pattern Recognoition demonstration preceding the ceremony at 14:15. This will be given by Professor Lucy Kuncheva from the School of Computer Science.
