Dawn wins University prize

In addition to receiving a First Class Honours MMAth degree in Mathematics, Dawn Fisher, 22 of Denton in Manchester has also been awarded the prestigious Dr John Roberts Jones prize by the University of Wales, Bangor.

A former student of Audenshaw High School, Dawn was awarded one of the four Dr John Roberts Jones Prizes for the best graduates across the University. The prize of £500 was presented by the University’s Vice-Chancellor at the recent graduation ceremony.

Dawn says the prize came as a bit of a surprise. She said,

"I’m really chuffed. I didn’t find out until two days ago so it was a great shock.”

After four years at the University, Dawn has already found herself a full time job but says she will miss Bangor very much.

"The best thing about Bangor is the people,” she said “ When I came here on an Open Day, the lecturers were so nice to me. Everyone in the department was great. I’ll miss the fact that you can always bump into someone you know in Bangor whenever you leave the house,” she added.
