September 1, 2006 to July 31, 2007

    J. Salvador Sánchez (Universitat Jaume I (Castellón, Spain))
to work with Lucy Kuncheva on the project: Combining classifiers and prototype selection for learning in partially supervised environments.

May 18-20, 2006

    Tony Bak (Bielefeld)
for research discussions with Ronnie Brown and Tim Porter.

May 15 - July 15, 2006

February 20-22, 2006

    Stefano Berrone (Torino)
This visit is related to the current European grant ( http://www.ann.jussieu.fr/IHP/),
He has offered to give a talk entitied:
Robust a posteriori error estimates for finite element discretizations of the heat equation with discontinuous coefficients.
This is relevant to the mathematical analysis and numerical simulation of problems where material properties can be discontinuous across interfaces, e.g layered materials etc.

January 17-19, 2006

    Phil Heath ()
for discussions with the Pure Mathematics research group,
and to give a seminar entitled: Nielsen fixed point theorems.

January 12-13, 2006

    Steve Linton (St. Andrews)
for discussions with the computational discrete algebra group,
and to examine Gareth Evans' thesis, Involutive noncommutative bases.
